Well,

I decided to make a site visit to my office /storeroom. It was the longest 50' I've ever had traverse. Thank God for the invention of walls!

Any way, I stagger to the room, and start to take some pictures of the sub panel and electrical distribution system.

At the main panel there is are two STDP 240 / 30 Amp breaker, feeding the sub panel.

The sub can support four individual breakers, however, whoever did this work, installed:

(1) Nothing in Position 1.
(2) Two mini breakers 30 amp each in position 2.
(3) One 20 amp in position 3
(4) Nothing in Position 4

There is a base board heater on an independent circuit fed by a home run to the main panel and protected by a 240 / 30 breaker (currently the breaker is "Open) and I'm now planning on dsc. The run and removing the entire circuit.

The prior owner had used a home welding unit, inside a wooden shop, there's a fire looking for a place to happen!

The runs are inside conduit for the most part. But when the conduit ran out, he switched to "Romex" and even made an effort to tack the "Romex" to the walls. There are no less than 10 "Flying Splices", one comes out of the conduit overhead (20 amp supply) and pigtails (a) Feeder to Ceiling fan light. (b) Ceiling Fan Motor. (c) Fluorescent light over the desk.

Where to start? I've just started a sketch of the room and since I have to get back to bed before I get caught. I'll chew on this for a little while longer.

Other than burning the shed down, after I get my stuff out where are your suggested starting points?

I would leave what's good, remove all the junk, and any conduits you don't need. Run continouous conduits to complete, and Go from there. I rip out junk daily, amazing what's out there. Yesterday went to install 2 switches upside up, at daughters' new apt, while the switches were out, not only did they use zip cord(18? Guage) the hot went directly to the fan, and they switched the Neutral to turn the fan on and off? Open all boxes.

A decision has to be made. To burn or not to burn!

Oh well, I got two more weeks to be laid up so I have plenty of time to figure out what I want to do. Then get a plan together for an electrical inspector to bless. Then it's off to the hardware store for supplies and tools, (necessary or not).
