    Is it true that the real cyrano, supposedly rescuing a friend, singlehandedly defeated 60 - 100 "thugs"?

    His real name was Hector Savinien de Cyrano ,an author/poet famous duelist . However I kind of doubt that he did much if any of the exploits depicted in Rostand's play which was very much a fictionalized version of his life .
