    Low cost student health insurance
My daughter (who will be 18 in July)will be starting college this year. We do not have any family health insurance, as my husband was laid -off in March and has not worked since because we are awaiting the green card. Please can anyone advise me of what health and/or dental plans would be affordable? I have spent many hours on the internet and am getting confused! We cannot afford $120 per month, which is what they seem to run at.
    Thank you.

Price has to do with how much coverage you want, what deductable, do you want doctor office visit coverage, just hospital coverage.
What sort of medcial problems the 18 year has had and so on.
Also what state is a issue as prices vary by state, since some states require some payments other do not. In Ga you can get some good basic coverage for 75 to 95 dollars a month
You can get a accident only plan for 50 a month for a family

So first you have to understand you will not get a 300 dollar a month policy for 50 dollars from anyone, the lower the price the less coverage you are normally going to get. There are differnece between companies althogh that can be big differences.

I don't know where it is available and for who, but BlueCross BlueShield has a plan called Simply Blue I believe that is created just for your daughters age group. If you can't afford $100 a month for insurance I suggest your daughter gets a job to pay for it.

Another option, which is in my state of MN, is something called Minnesota Care which is kindof like a health insurance welfare type thing. It is based on income and I know my sister had it all through college for $4 a month (yes that is not a typo $4 a month).

Once again, I am sure it depends on where you reside and where she is going to school.
