    Can a creditor obtain a judgment to garnish wages without the defendant's knowledge in nj?

    The legal answer is no. The practical answer is yes. There are ways to fudge service of the summons to get a default judgement. But if that happens, the debtor can move to vacate the judgement on the grounds of improper service.
