My selfish side, has spoilt my life
I've met a guy who is truly in love with me, we had good times, we had a few bad. I took the easy option and ended it, he begged and begged, I've kept him waiting, played with his emotions and now quite rightly he wants a final answer. Id do anything to give him that chance, for him to prove that maybe he could change a few things or compromise with my efforts as well, but one thing... my selfishness has spolit it, once I made my mind up it was over, as in over night without thinking it through I slagged my boyfriend off rotten to everyone, so my friends and family hate him. Now I want him back no one understands and is advising me to stay away I tried to say I overexaggerated but they don't believe me. I can't help but think I have a serious problem. Please don't take this as an opportunity to slag me off, I know I'm in he wrong and I'm asking for advice and guidance not stick. I am a nice person deep down, I never meant to cause pain and upset, my mum sympathesises with me and sees why I want to give it another shot, but my dad and sister and brother hate him so much it would be so awkward. Maybe its best to leave him and learn from mistakes, but then ill feel punished as I may never find anyone like him, but I guess I deserve that treatment after what I've done?

Well what were your reasons for breaking up with him in the first place?

I freaked out after a weekend away
He had a higher sex drive than me
I felt we didn't communicate much

Those sort of reasons, there was no real blow

I can only relate it to my family but they would only want me to see me be happy. If they see you make an effort with this guy and vice versa I don't see why they would harbour a grudge towards him long term, as long as he treats you right which is how it seems from your post.

You say you are a good person deep down, well that is probably why he wanted to be with you so much, and by being on here asking what to do should be a fair indication that you want to pursue where it could go a second time around. I say if you feel you can do the right thing by him then go for it :)

*edit*I find your post somewhat ironic to read as I lived with a girl for a bit then she broke up with me and did something similar, we went away, came back and broke up and if I run into her friends they treat me like a leper. I think it might be part of the process where girls value their friends opinion of them and don't want to be viewed negatively at all so cast the ex in a bad light. Friends and family are very important cornerstone of people's lives and I am sure if he does really love you then he will be aware that regaining their trust and dealing with them again will be part and parcel of getting back together with you.

You need the time and space to work on your own issues, and I hope you do. Anything less is asking for more of the same, and that's not fair to him, is it?
