A different inquiry about bank account garnishment
    Hello Everyone!

After asking this question to several bankers and receiving several different answers, and not being able to find the answer on the internet - here is my final stop and hopefully I can get an answer.

I know about bank account garnishments and how it can also be in effect with 2 account holders, BUT let's say Jane has a garnishment order against her account, and Jack, not the spouse by the way, is an account holder with Jane. Once the money is retrieved from the account, and it is not enough, can the creditor now go to Jack's bank accounts considering the creditor saw his name on Jane's account and now has found another means to get this money?

The creditors are "after" Jane and not Jack.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

No, they may try and see if you could be hiding some of your money there if possible, but they can not even take Jacks money from the joint account, as a "injured" party he can go to court and prove what part of the account his his, and they can not take his money.

I don't know why you would get conflicting answers on that. The answer is a clear and emphatic NO! The only reason they can go after the joint account is because that's assumed to be commingled funds.
