    Receiving vengeful REDS on askmehelpdesk
I'm a little flustered and thought I would come in here instead of getting into a disagredie war. I like the "points" system here (for the most part) and enjoy being able to receive good advice and going into the advisers history and seeing their reputation.
Often I see people disagreeing with a persons opinion or advice given and they give them a little punch to their credibility by marking them with a reddie. Sometimes its right on, and sometimes it would have been completely unnecessary or wrong. We've all seen it, it's nice to have balancers as well that can help repair unfair reputation bashing. But what about people who go on help desk and say the most derogatory remarks, that are way off the topic and toss out reddies like it's a bingo?
I ran into one of these people recently, I disagreed with a bashing that was out of line. I'm quite sure this person waited a day and then decided to red me (totally random) on one of my former posts using the intellectually shocking reason of QUOTE" disagrees: PFFF :End QUOTE The thing is when people do this there is no balancer, because the disagreed is so many pages back that it would not be read. I can imagine this happens 100 times a day on here and other things like it and I accept the fact that no system is perfect, but I wonder if this problem could be fixed one day.

Boy, mr. greg quinn, I am like so glad I didn't chime in on that post. I tend to be trigger happy and shoot first and ask questions later, and seeing as that went to all about l00 answers/disagreements/agreements, whatever I see what you mean. Tickle's name would have been mud from here to s. america, it is good it wasn't a dog post (insider joke).

You do okay, I have read your posts and they are well thought out and sincere. Just, as they say, get a thicker skin, take it all in your stride. The same problem will not be yours tomorrow, it will be past history.

Smile and enjoy your time here as I know you have found you can.

Did I miss something, or did the OP never come back on and chime in once in a while to see what havoc she reeked along the way !

I completely agree with you on what you said. Sometimes it's hard to fathom the disagree redies other than what you said - vengeance.

My favorite saying is "Arguing on the Internet is like the Special Olympics. Even when you win you still look retarded". (no offense to the Special Olympics by the way)

Try to keep that in mind and the redies won't bother you as much or shouldn't.

The majority of redies happen from new members who don't understand and if they don't like your answer they hit the disagree button. And others just do it because they don't like you. Since the points don't really count for much, don't really worry about it, I doubt if anyone hardly ever actually checks out the writings.
