Wages and per diem both on line 7 1099
How would I figure the amount that was considered per diem?
My 1099 only shows the total amount paid for the entire year. Part of this was per diem. Should I just claim the IRS rate for the number of days worked or how should this be handled?
All the work was "on the road" away from home, and not at the companys location either.
The company I worked for as contract labor pays for the motel but give me "per diem" for m&ie but the 1099 does not show an amout for this or days/hours worked.

Sorry for posting this again, but I included a quote in the first one and though it might be confusing.

You have some major research to do.

The IRS rate varies with locale. It is covered in IRS Pub 1542.

Take some time to read and understand the rates, then have at it.

You will report your entire 1099 income on schedule C. On schedule C you can deduct all your business related expenses.

Your employer paid you per diem under unaccountable plan so that it is your problem to figure out the deductions.

You should read IRS Publication 334 Tax Guide for Small Business (For Individuals Who Use Schedule C or C-EZ)
