If not in public housing on/near premises. Furthermore how is hud contacted on this or landlord? I was arrested at an party and had 1 reefer in my purse and don't want

HUD Law says one of the reasons for losing assistance is: "The members of the family may not engage in drug-related criminal activity, or violent criminal activity." First degree simple possession is a drug-related charge - so I would say yes; on the other hand, is simple possession drug-related criminal activity?

I know HUD used to run period criminal checks; I don't know if they do any longer; maybe they only check at renewal time. Or if there's a complaint.

It is up to Hud to end it. And yes they can cut off your funding for any person living in the home having any drug use what so ever. So even the one will do it.

Now normally the landlord will not want your HUD to end, since that is his money he knows he will get, so if you lose your HUD, you may not be able to pay rent, so often the landlord turns his head as long as it does not endanger his property

I would certainly hope so, considering that the taxes I pay go to help make the rental payment for you. The way I see it is, if you had enough money for marijuana, you had enough money to get out and rent your own house and pay the full amount yourself! I hate to support druggies with my tax money from working, when they don't even have their priorities right. Get out, get yourself a job, and quit using my tax money.

Yes, I would. If an individual has the money for things such as alcohol and drugs, then they should have the money to pay their own rent.

I do not know about other places but here the police reports automatically go to public housing, which is HUD funded. One of oldest son's classmates got kicked off housing because she sold one of her oxycontins to someone. She was also kicked out of college - even though the charges were put on suspension, pending a successful probation period.

You say one joint - how many times does one say only "one joint"?

You will most likely lose your HUD voucher and you could be barred from reapplying for a certain amount of time due to this incident. Basically you blew it for now. Hope you don't have too many kids in tow. Finding new housing will be hard. Contact the Salvation Army for some help.
