Receiving items I did not order and being billed!
Hi, my friend has a concern. She replied to some psychic letter she received in the mail. They were offering a reading for $19.95 plus a free gift, a decorative gold colored ring. For some reason this is all my friend wanted and I told her just make sure You check the box stating you do not want the monthly readings. Before she sent the money order and the form I double checked it and even wrote beside the box(stating no further readings)I DO NOT WANT THE MONTHLY READINGS, JUST THE RING! As her witness, I swear she did not order anything else... Now, ever since responding, it seems that every psychic has sent something through the mail.. even The Amazing Kreskin... lol. Just last month a booklet showed up with a bill for $69.00. I myself phoned and left a nasty message that she did not order this and would not be paying nothing. Now, she just received a letter stating they got the message to cancel her "subscription" but informed her that she now owed $104.00. Again I phoned the number in the letter and left another message, I even found out that this psychic has a web page, so I sent him an email stating what I said in the phone message. Have not heard back. Can they do this? And if the bill isn't paid I'm guessing a collection agency next. I would like to do something now. Again my friend did not order these booklets. How can we stop the harassment? Who do we call and what should we do? Don't want this guy ruining her credit rating if he sends it to a collection agency. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thank You

Did you keep copies of the original order? Unless they can prove that the merchandise, subscription etc. was specifically ordered, they cannot collect on it.

I would mail it back to them. As well add a letter about your situation. As well when you mail it back to them keep a copy for yourself as well sent it registered mail so they have to sign for it. This is what I would do. Keep in mind that any offer like that one is compleat fake. Meaning that the ring was worth nothing. I would even send that back as well. Plan and simple you just don't won't anything to do with it. Keep us posted.

I informed this so-called psychic that I contacted the Better Business Bureau and The Consumer Protection Service and that this service would be contacting them for a copy of the order if one was not sent to me. Next day I received an email stating I had a zero balance and to ignore any other letters requesting payment. Case closed! :o)
