Hi,
I am trying to find out what my rights are as father of a small boy whom I have had to pay child support for since separating from my former girlfriend. My son lives with his mother to whom I have been paying child support for six years now. I used to see my son with no problems until I found a girlfriend and married her. After I got married my ex girlfriend has not allowed me to see or pick up my son at all making excuses whenever I call and try and go see him. I have been paying child support through my employer and even though I know it's for my son I also would like to be involved in his life since it has been about eighteen months since we have not been able to spend time together. Please advise as to what I can do in regards to this matter. I live in south Florida and when I have contacted the child support office down here they always seem to be more interested in looking out for the mom more than the father. What Can I Do?

Ok-hire a lawyer and go to Court for custody and visitation determination.

First child support enforcement does not enforce visitation. You will have to take the mother back to court and try to get the judge to find her in contempt for not allowing your visits.

You have to actually go to Court and file for visitation - either a new Order or enforcement of the existing order.

(And, yes, some of the Courts most definitely favor Mom - they seem more concerned about support than visitation. I suppose it goes in both directions (sometimes Dad over Mom) but I don't see a lot of that.)

The one thing you haven't mentioned is whether there is court ordered visitation schedule set. If there isn't, then you need to go to court IMMEDIATELY and petition for one. If there is, then you need to go to court and have them advise the money that will be in contempt of court if she violates the agreement.

No matter what happens with you going to court for visitation.. DO NOT stop in any way the child support payments to her for your child. Don't ever play games with that.
Just some quick advice
And yes courts favor the moms in many courts in this country
