So my best friend thought this guy liked her (lets call him George). We are all in college. They started hanging out, and I hung out with them because me and George were kind of friends before (we were in a club together). Basically the relationship between me and him is not serious at all- we do nothing but joke around and make fun of each other. I am a very funny person so I make him and other people laugh a lot. My best friend wasn't sure if George liked her- she finally texted him one night and told him and he said the feeling was reciprocated but he just wanted to get to know her. George does kind of like this other girl at the same time, but from what Ive been told, she doesn't like him back, but Im not sure if George has understood that.

Anyway, Ive noticed now when I go over sometimes he is very flirty. Someone else there commented on it once. My other good friend says he has only seen him flirt with me and the other girl he likes (not my best friend) My best friend did comment that the last time we hung out with him he talked to me more than her. He did keep trying to tickle me and he makes fun of me constantly. But then sometimes he will be really nice. George has said "you know Im a nice person" He has called me hot and hilarious- I didn't really know what to say to that. I have texted him a couple of times when my best friends phone died, and we just joked around and somehow got on the conversation of what our kids would be like, he kept saying they would get beauty and intelligence from me and he did call me "beautiful" at the end of the last message. Later he IMed me and talked to me for awhile and invited me over with my best friend. Yesterday when he wanted to hang out he texted me and not my best friend. I was busy with something else, a concert, he said "you can come over after" After the concert, I texted him saying it ended too late for me to come over and he just said something stupid as usual. But I told him to kiss my best friend jokingly (she had been saying she wanted to) and he said "Uhhh no I dont like her like that. I like someone else." I told him he should tell her and he said "why? I dont know if she likes me." (ummmm, is he lying or can he really be that stupid?) When I asked who the other girl was, he said "I can't tell you." I told him it was OK but I hoped the other girl was very nice. He said "she is unbelieveably nice but I havent even told her yet." He then asked where I was and when I returned to school he said Yay.

Ok so this other girl could not be me and someone else... but should I be worried? I don't think I could ever date him- it would kill my best friend and she's the closest friend I've ever had. Or is he talking to me so much because of my best friend or is he just being friendly/only sees me as a friend??

He's a guy, not a girl. He doesn't view relationships and courting ANYTHING like you do. If he's flirting with you, he's interested. He's also single so he's more than likely flirting with a lot of other girls, some you may know, most you probably don't.

And there's nothing wring with any of that.

I can promise you this, you're giving this "does he like me or doesn't he oh what should i do" stuff a 100 times more thought than he is. Good for you. You should.

If you like him as a person (not looks and NOT what he says to you about you, that's mostly bull) and can name 3 or more SUBSTANTIVE things you have in common and can enjoy experience together for years to come, then consider him as someone to date. If he's dating a friend, tell HER you like him and that you're interested in him if things don't work out, she'll hate you later if she finds out on her own, whether her relationship lasts or not.

If you can't identify this substantive in common basis for even considering a relationship with him other than friends, it doesn't matter how he feels. Dismiss the thought and enjoy the safe flirting.
