I own an old mobile(1967) all the drains work well except for the bathtub.ive tried drano, plunging etc.nothing seems to work.ive removed the cover for the auger access and I notice the pipe is vertical.does it lead to a trap.wil an auger do the trick? Could it filled with hair and other debris? Thanks:confused:

Yes it does go to the trap; I just went through this last week which led me to these boards. I tried all you listed and decided to use boiling water. I poured about 8 gallons in the drain, each time the flow became better. No problem now, seems soap and body oils build up in my pipes over a long period slow draining. The boiling water cleared it out. If you have caste iron drains the build up is more prevalent.

I believe that by the cover for the auger access, you mean the tub over flow. Remove this cover and block it with something. A wet wash cloth stuffed into it tightly will usually do it. Then plunge the drain. The drain and the overflow pipes are connected and plunging without blocking the overflow does not work. You are only pushing air out of the overflow. Run some water into the tub and work the plunger rapidly. The pulling or suction action of the plunging seems to have as much or more effect as the pushing.
