You can, but your not fully protected until after all of the shots have been given.

Just wondering but why would the nurse want to scare you unless your underage? If this is the case I'd suggest not having sex either.

Gernald, the nurse did not tell her this, her mother did.

Until the series of 3 shots is complete you are not protected against HPV.

You can have sex before the series is complete, but it will not be effective until it is complete.

This shot (Gardasil here in the US) is given to girls between the ages of 12 - 26. Many 26 year olds are having sex.

However, if you are not ready for parenthood I would suggest you use one form of birth control or another.

    Whoops dyslexia strikes again. Sorry.

That makes way more sense. Yea I can see why your mom would want to scare you. But come on it's your mom! How many times do you actually listen to your parents when it comes to stuff like that? I mean you shouldn't have sex not yet, but yes your mom is just trying to scare you. Don't you go to get the next shot in a few weeks or months anyway? So that's not so long is it.
But really come on your 17, at least humor your mother and wait. :)

It is a full 6 months for the series of the shots to be complete. From the first shot to the last is 6 months. You surely can wait that long.

I have to go back in 2 months for the second shot and then wait another 6 months for the last shot.
