Some political analyst think with Rudy losing support in NY, and with Florida being highly questionable, eventually drops out leaving us McCain and Romney going into Super Tuesday. Thompson camp probably is split on direction, or has Romney getting a slight boost. Thompson highly criticised for a slow campaign start, and rightfully so, did this to himself. Based on South Carolina data, Hackabee eventually dropping would give McCain a slight bounce. Edwards said in last nights Democratic debate, that he fully expects McCain to eventually win the Republican nomination.

You won't hear this from other punsters in the press but one of his main reasons for dropping out is the condition of his mother.
Other than that he was always the reluctant campaigner. His campaign was more a reaction to a draft Thompson movement in the conservative ranks . During the campaign he tried to get the party to embrace the traditional conservative principles. He made detailed policy statements ;many of them will be ultimately adopted in the party platform. Efforts like his;Trancedo's and Hunter's moved candidates in the field to more conservative positions on issues like immigration. The bottom line;and I say this as a critique of the process ;not the man... the "actor " was not entertaining enough. He thought he could make an impact by being a serious candidate. He was wrong.
'We need to deserve to lead. And this is what this is all about; it's about deserving to lead.”
That was Fred Thompson on Saturday in South Carolina during a sincere, passionate, well-grounded speech that sounded like his farewell to the campaign trail. With his announcement Tuesday afternoon that he has withdrawn his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president, we now know it was. It was a bittersweet moment for any conservative who had been watching his campaign and wished it had been a more effective one earlier in the process. As far as the Huckster and Rudy are concerned . The Huckleberry has run his camapaign on a shoe string all along and if he is comfortable continuing that way there is no impetus for him to drop out before Feb. 5 .
Rudy I think needs a good showing in Florida to carry him into Feb .5 where I think he will do well and pick up a substantial number of delegates . I think both Democrats and Republicans will go into the summer with contested conventions . How cool is that!! |

Thank you Karma. Some times I wish I was standing somewhere else watching this nightmare transpire. We are in serious trouble here but most Americans keep on listening to the propaganda being vomited out of their television sets. The tube is doing their thinking for them. They just can't see the bigger picture. They vote for a president because he is the most likable and wittiest. America has become one big phoney reality show. They banter endlessly about political positions that are in fact not based in fact. They have earphone heads that were molded by the Department of Education.

From the latest reports Thompson will endorse McCain. Somewhat surprising since Thompson and Romney are actually closer in their views staunchly backing corporate America, as has been the Republican theme for the past thirty years. The frontrunner's on the Democratic side are fairly the same as the Republicans on the issue, just varying degrees. Personally I don't care for the whole bunch.

He may or may not endorse his friend McCain . But ; it looks at least like a good part of his campaign staff is going to Romney's camp. Governor Romney Announces Additions To The Advisory Committee On The Constitution And The Courts
I could support Romney but I think Rudy would have the most conservative government of the field . I would have more difficulty supporting McCain. I don't know what would happen if the Huckster was nominated . Paul is a non-factor. |
