    The common name for tetanus is Lock jaw. It causes the muscles of the body especially the face to go in a rigid state, so much so that you cannot even forcibly open the jaw. Hence the name. It is a very lethal condition caused the tetanus bacteria entering the body through the skin i.e. injury where there is breach of skin by metallic, rusty object or a such.
