Hi, I have a burham boiler that is 20 years old. Last year I started to get a banging noise from it and it is now getting louder. What might it be and how can I get rid of it? Thanks!! Ron

RON.. I am asumming that you have a forced hot water system... right? What is the pressure reading on your boiler (guage may be under boiler acess panel)? What temperature is reached at the high limit of your heating cycle.. In case of excessive pressure or temperature a boiler relief valve should engage and relieve these issues (also alerts homeowner to problem), but in some cases relief valve does not engage and boiler noises begin... get worse, etc.

You can imagine that here boiler water should be hot.. not boil.. be hot. If the water boils (212F) expansion is increased and the boiler and pipes do not like that!

Anyway, get back to us with these numbers and we will see what we come up with. Thanks... Mark
