I am going to be setting a new toilet in our addition and need help.

I needed to level the floor as there was over an inch and a half between the old and new areas of the bathroom. After all is said and done, the old cast iron flange is almost two inches below the new floor height.

During one of my many visits, I asked some Homers how to correct the height difference.

Homer 1 said to just stack some wax rings to make up the difference.

Homer 2 said to cut out the old flange and put in a new one at the correct height.

Homer 3 said to use some plastic filler rings, with a little caulk between them, to raise the flange up to the new height.

Anyone have any suggestions besides the Homer ones? Or did Homer supply a good answer?

Hi Dan, nice to see you again.
I'm going to hafta go with door#2 with some changes.
They make a deep closet flange that slips down inside the closet bend and makes a seal, (see image). This would leave the old flange in place and all you would have to do is secure it to the floor and reset the toilet. Sound like a plan? Regards, Toim
