I had my bathroom remodeled a couple of months ago. The tub was moved and replaced. There were a lot of gurgling sounds coming from the tub when the laundry was running so I called the contractor. He came back out and did something with the cap, the top piece on the large white pipe in the pictures. The following day, the tub started draing very slow. I have only been taking quick showers and only have the water about a third of the way open, but I still have standing water over my ankles when I get out.

I haven't had any luck with getting him back out here. Any suggestions? I have used draino/liquid plumber, but they haven't sone anything.

That guy sounds like a real jerk in that he did the work, got his check and then decides not to go back and finish the job he started. Keep calling him as you paid for this to be built right, not for it to malfunction the first time out the gate. If he refuses to come back and no one here can figure out a quick fix for you, then I would call him back and tell him you are going to give him a bad rep at BBB and tell all your friends how shoddy this guy turned out to be and if you have to call a plummer to fix his mess, you are going to take him to small claims court for the cost of the plummer's bill to fix his mess that should not have happened in the first place if done right. Get tough on this character as remodeling can be very pricey!

Then if push comes to shove you'll have to call a plummer. There are a lot of plummer guys on there that hopefully will come along and help you.

You paid someone to do that job? Twinkie, I think its plumber and this guy probably wasn't one. I would threaten him with a complaint to the building department. I don't believe his saddle drain is allowable by code, where do you live. It also looks like he has made himself a clean out with that cap. Did he add the higher up drain line or the one with 4-5 elbows. He did not even get his 4" wye to sit square on the next pipe. It ppears to be held only by its glue.

I paid him to remodel the bathroom. I had a plumber lined up for the job, but the contractor told me he would do it and had already included the plumbing in his quote for the job.

I live in Michigan. He added the high pipe from the tub to the where it curves like a big "C" with all the elbows and then into the big vertical pipe. He also added the top piece (or pieces) to the big vertical pipe where another line is running in. There is another saddle below that one you can see in the picture where the toilet is connected so there are a total of 3 lines running into the big one. The top line that looks like it's in the cap part is going to the vent stack (I think that's what he called it) that goes all the way up to the roof.

He redid some of my other lines in the basement. I'm not sure why, but he said they needed to be changed and didn't add any charges other than the pipes.

I think I'm going to call the plumber I originally talked to and have him come out and tell me what all I need to have corrected. I guess if I get a list of what needs to be done and a price, I can give the contractor the option of doing it himself or paying the plumber to correct it for him.

Thank you for your help. When I went down there and saw all of the pieces glued together and all the glue drips I didn't think it looked right, but everything was working and I'm no plumber by a long shot and he had been recommended by a friend that he had done some work for.
