Medical issues are not my strongest area. Too bad DocWill couldn't cope with this site. My usual advice is to listen to your vet. Although they tend to disagree with each other, they are highly trained people and unlike anybody here or our vets, they have seen your dog. What was right for somebody else's dog, may or may not be right for yours.

I would take a very close look at the evidence behind any alternatives suggested here or elsewhere. Some people put great store on untested ''natural'' practices. Before I risked my dog with any treatments my vet didn't suggest, I would want to hear more than ''it worked on my dog'' or some website of unknown backing.

I don't know if there are dog chiropracters, but I have been going to one, and have the x-rays to show that it is increasing the space between the discs (and some other good stuff about shoulder blade location, head carriage, etc.) I'd talk to your vet if you want to go that way, so that you can find someone with experience.

We have two mini piebald daschunds who are normal for their breed--they love to sniff and eat whatever they find on the floor. My daughter wants a parakeet, and as I expect a lot of birdseed debris on the floor, I am wondering if eating this would be harmful to the dogs. Also if the bird got...

Daschund still not walking after back surgery [ 1 Answers ]

My 6-year-old daschund became paralyzed last August after rupturing 5 discs in his back. He had the surgery within 24 hours of the paralysis, and although he is still not walking, he is standing for several seconds at a time. Someone recommended a vitamin that will help keep the gel-like...

I have a female and a male standard. I want to breed them, but I was told by the Vet that because they are in the same house together all the time she will not let him.
