    w-2 and 1099 filing
    Hello,

I have filed W-2 (1040 federal and d400 state) in the past but this year I have w-2 and 1099 since I worked as a contractor for another company part-time. Now, I have these questions:
    1. Exactly what form should I file for 1099?
    2. Are there different forms for both federal and state for 1099 as it is the case for w-2?
    3. Is there any way to combine w-2 and 1099 and file only one form?

    Thanks for your help

    XYZ 999:

You will need to file Form 1040 with a Schedule C and Schedule SE to report the income from Form 1099-MISC.

No, you cannot combine the income from the W-2 and 1099.

I suggest you get professional tax help. There are tricks of the trade that a tax pro will know in filing the Schedule C which will save enough in taxes for you to at least pay the professional's fee.
