Hi can you please tell me if it is less likely to get pregnant just after your period?

Any time you have sex there is a possibility of pregnancy. The chance is lower if you are not ovulating, and your ovulation dates vary according to your monthly cycle.

If you don't want to get pregnant don't have sex. It's the only thing that is 100% sure.

Usually your fertility is most around ovulation which can be anything from day 10 to day 20 in some women. Do you know when you ovulate? If so have sex around then and good luck.

Usually most women ovulate mid cycle (a few weeks after their period), but this vary woman to woman and cycle to cyle. You can ovualte anytime during your cycle. But yes, I would say the chances are less if you are only have intercourse directly following your period.

Sorry but I'm a little confused with the whole 10-20 days! Is this counting from the last day of your period?

OK, for the average 28 day cycle, the average ovulation timing is 12-14 days from the first day of your last period. Lets say you start your period on the first one the month, then the average timing would be that you would be ovulating around the 12-14 of that month. Make sense? However, that is only an average, and women's cycles are all different. Some women have longer periods (for ex. 32 days) some have shorter then the average 28. Some women ovulate at that beginning of their cycle, then there's the average in the middle, some at the end of the cycle, and a rare few even ovulate while on their periods. Also, keep in mind, that sperm can live inside of you for up to one week. So you could have sex several days before you ovulate, and still get pregnant.
