How many years does a teen have to report acts of sexual molestation?

You mean how long after you were molested do you have to turn the molester in?

I don't believe there is a statute of limitations on this. There was a newscaster in my city who was arrested for this 25 years after the case and the gal that he molested was 12 at the time of molestation and she is now 37. Yes, he was arrested and is currently being tried.

Honey I was raped when I was 14 and he was 38 I have a child by this man and my mother would not let me press charges so I did it when I was 20 and the man pleded not guilty and now its going to go to trail its OK with me cause I also get 250 thousand dollars for pain and suffering plus 45thousand in back child support I would go for it

I do not believe the standard timelines pertain to crimes against children. The child has time to grow up before they react. And even if it's too late to press criminal charges, it may well still be possible to enter a civil case for damages. That is - he may not be able to be sent to jail, but you might be able to sue for pain and suffering. Chances are, you can do both. Go for it.

I'm 13 and there is this guy that is like 30 and I think I'm in love I don't know and I don't know if I'm being molested or not but he always talks about kissing me in inappropriate places and I said I don't like this topic and he changes the topic but he is scaring me a little am I being molested??

Jeni What he is doing is wrong. The more you are around him the pushier he will get. For now he may stop so that you will think that you can trust him. When he feels likeyou trust him and are deeper in love with him he will ask more and more from you. You need to tell someone about what he is saying to you. You are probably not the first young girl that he has done this with. Please don't let this continue.

I don't want to sound rude... but you would be really dumb to wait years and years to report someone who molested you.. y would you even want it to continue. And if they plead not guilty because you waited too long, that's bad because they'll just keep doing the same thing to someone else. And it would just be your fault for letting them go free. I would have him put away forever

Yeah this is very rude. I might be correct in saying that you have never been molested. How could you say that to some one. You are making it sound like its her fault and that's not right.

Some states have laws that give a very long time for molestation of a child to be reported. Go to your police department and report it. The worst that can happen is nothing.

As for the child who is interested in dating the grown man, dear he is wrong. My son is 13 and I know a lot of kids your age. No matter how mature you are, a grown man should know that a 13 year old girl is totally off limits legally and morally. This is a grown man who's attracted to young girls. YOu may seem grown up, but to a thirty year old, the normal person would experience you as a very young barely-teenage kid and not have a single sexual thought about you. It's just not appropriate. It would be like you having sexual thoughts about some really old man - it's not natural or appropriate.

A thirty year old man who shows romantic interest in a 13 year old is clearly a child molester. He probably trolls the internet for a lot of girls, and has a game down to make each of you feel really special. His goal is to have sex with young girls, and possibly worse. Some molesters also murder, torture, kidnap... this is a very dangerous situation.

Honey, this is one of those situations you learned about in school where you're told to go talk to your parents because another adult is being inappropriate. Even if you've done anything to encourage it, it's not your fault. He's playing with your emotions and your parents will understand that.

If your parents don't, talk to your teacher. They will help you.
