Okay what is the average here?
My son, who picks on me about liking to help others by answering ?'s here
SAID that he read on the internet that women are more likely the higher percentage to use the computer to answer questions to help people on sites like this than men are.
I told him that there is probably about equal on here.
So reply and state male or female for a quick poll.

That's a junk math position. His question should be directed to the source of the statement for proof of their statement.

As to the general comment, I would tend to agree that women are more willing to help others in the sharing of personal truths and thoughts. However, in the sciences and mechanics of doing things, men seem to me to be the dominant source of shared information. However, some women are present on this side of the coin also.

I agree with Don. Guys are keen to share their knowledge and women their experiences in the hope of helping someone in the same position.

From my experience on here of asking and answering questions, I'd say the male to female ratio is about equal.

I agree with the knowledge and experience stuff.
I know polls and surveys are pretty inaccurate,
I just thought it would be a fun question to get an idea of an approximate ratio here.

This made sense to me when I first read it. After all, many women that never read a book on them or attended a training session, seem to feel just owning a dog qualifies them to advise other dog owners.

Then I thought about all the men posting to Plumbing, Heating, and Electrical that seem to also be innocent of any training or licensing.

Do I need to say I am a man?

I can't guess if there are more men or women here, but I strongly feel those with real knowledge are badly outnumbered.

I checked, I am always male when I answer on here.

I did a check for example on the top 20 people that answer on here I think 4 are female.
But then there are sites on here for plumbing and electrical which women can do well of course but do have more men doing it.
You can go to the members list and perhaps go and look at the top 100 answerers, the main ones who normally answer here, and perhaps add them up to male or female. I did not feel like adding them up.

Thing is though some user names here can be male or female.
I have a feeling there are a little more male than female on this site.

    Bushg,

Are you by chance saying that the President of our Nation or Former President of Our Nation have had sex change or emotional outlooks changed? Shame on you.

That's in poor taste. I agree you have the right to speak and think as you please, by virtue of our Constitution. By the way, thank our Constitution and all the men and women who protect its words and our global safety for keeping it that way.

Tacky, tacky. Can you find a more palatable way to take a swat at National Leaders when addressing a world wide audience?

Donf to respond to your bewildering post. I said nothing wrong about our president. I have been pm'd a few times asking if I am George Bush... I would think because of bushg.
Believe me I give thanks to our constitution... I have it framed and hanging in my house. If I were trying to take a swat as you put it I would do so... with no regrets. I was merely anwering Nohelp4you's poll. I don't exactly understand why my post upset you so. Since it is my post and for nohelp4u's. Have a good day.

    Bushg,

For some reason the phrase, "Female. No I'm not George Bush." struck me as very insulting. Apparently it's a hot button for me, which I did not know it was!

From your response it seems I took it out of context, for which I apologize. Certainly it within our rights to swat at these guys, particularly when they drive us nuts. I guess I'd prefer to see a sense of decorum, boy is that a pie in the sky concept.

I'm a Baseball Umpire, I should never use decorum and comments in the same sentence.

Accepted. If you see a young baseball star by the last name of Bush... in the next few years, hopefully it will be my son. We love baseball... even though we sometimes disagree with the umps. Have a nice day.

    Bushg,

Are you in the Tidewater, Virginia area? If you are, his first time at bat will be a base-on-balls, maybe.
