Will prenatal vitamins interact my birthcontrol
I am taking birthcontrol and I was wondering if I took prenatal formula with iron ,vitamins. That will help my hair grow faster, would that interact it or anything.
Because I heard that some medicane will?
Thanks.

Thank you for the PM, sorry I did not get to your question sooner, but it is Saturday and I had to do the grocery shopping, start dinner, and spend time with the kids. You see, we do this for free on our own spare time.
Now, for your question...
Prenatal vitamins will not mess with your birth control pills... only certain antibiotics will make them less effective or ineffective.
As for making your hair grow faster, I doubt it, but your hair will be healthier.
Again, only certain antibiotics will make the pill less effective. So, if you are put on any antibiotics for any reason, make sure you tell your doctor you are on the pill and always use a backup method of birth control.

Thanks for your advice. Its very helpful and I'm glad you guys are here to answer questions.
The vitamins should help my hair grow. My friend took it when she was going to get married and wanted her hair long so she heard about this and tried it and it did grow faster and was healthier, so I figured it wouldn't hurt anything to try in. enless it would interact mt birthcontrol. So since you you or I don't think it would then I'm going to try it.
But thank you again for your help.

It's not that I don't think it will mess with your birth control, I KNOW IT WON'T. LOL
As a nurse in Labor & Delivery, I know the meds that will mess with your birth control. Vitamins, especially prenatal vitamins will not make your BC less effective.
It's good that you plan on taking it. As birth control is not 100% effective anyway, it is better that every woman take it during child bearing years to prevent certain birth defects.

It won't do anything for the birth control one way or another.
It's just healthy for you, especially if you become pregnant. You see, many defects to the fetus happen before we even know we are pregnant, this is just one way to help keep the baby healthy should you become pregnant.

Oh, so this is really good. Thank you so much. That makes me feel good that I'm taking it now even if my hair doesn't grow because it will help anyway and that does make me feel better for when I do become pregnant for the baby. Whenever that should happen. But thanks again.

You are doing a really good thing for yourself by taking prenatals. I am 43, had 4 kids, can't have any more, and I STILL take prenatals.
I congratulate you for taking these before becoming pregnant, whenever that will be LOL, it's the one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Aww thanks. That makes me feel really happy that I'm doing a good thing. I am very excited about when the time will be that I do have my own children, however I am to young right now. But I can't wait to the day I get to. I always think about what they will look like and act like and how it will be to have my own family and my own house and everything. I just know I can't right now because I need to worry about work and things right now. Just wanted to share that with you. Anyway thanks so much.

You really made my day Jennifer!!
I see on this site daily about girls who think they are pregnant but don't want to be, or girls who want to get pregnant to keep their boyfriends, I could go on and on.
It is refreshing to meet someone like you who wants to take charge of their health, get ahead in the world, and be sure of herself before making such a life changing decision.
I applaud you!! Your mother should be proud (well, I am a mother of 4 and I would be proud).
Just remember that all women of childbearing years should be taking a vitamin that contains folic acid. What vitamin is that? Typically prenatal vitamins.
Also, remember, if you are ever put on any antibiotics, please use a back up method of birth control.
Jennifer, I have to say, in my almost 2 years here, you are a breath of fresh air!!

aww you are so sweet. You kind of sound like my mom. She thought of this but we wernt sure if it would mess with my birthcontrol, but I'm glad I asked you. And from what you have said this is really good to take them. You have helped me a lot. And I will have to watch the antibiotics. I have had a boyfriend for almost 2 years now and I'm sure we will end up together hopefully, but I want to get my life on the right track and every thing first before I do bring a life in this world. And I do want them to be very healthy when I do so this should help. Thanks soooo much. I will deffenitly come back to you if I have any more questions. Thanks. =D

aww your so sweet. Thanks. You sound like my mom sort of. We thought of this idea. She thinks it's a good idea too for me to start taking this. Even though it should be a while till I do get pregnant. At first she thought I might have been because of what it says on the bottle. But now I told her what you said. But thanks so much for your advise. I'm so glad I came and asked you. =D
can I ask you how old your children are?

Of course... I have 4 children the two oldest are boys, ages 21 and 19, then a girl who is 14 (just named to homecoming court, I'm such a proud Mom), and my youngest is a 5 1/2 year old boy.

That's so neat. Your daughter must be happy. I'm glad for her. I want to have 2 first closer together (hopefully a girl and a boy) and then another one later like 5 or 6 years apart. I kind of want twins for the third, but who knows.. .

Sorry to butt in, but I wanted to add something...
The particular type of birth control pill I used for 10 years could be counteracted not just with antibiotics but with high amounts of Vitamin C. For mine, its specifically advised against using Hall's Vitamin C drops in the lemon/orange/grapefruit variety flavor package (weird, I know). That information can be found in a PDR or by speaking with your doctor about your Rx.

Glad to help! It was quite shocking to me. I was just flipping through the PDR one day and thought I should check out my one and only Rx at the time... low and behold!
That put a stop to that pretty quick! I loved those drops and kept a bag in my desk.
