I have been on birth control pills for over two years can be the reason why I am not getting pregnant right now? Can it cause me not to get pregnant?

It can take most healthy couples up to a year to get pregnant.
Birth control takes some time to get out of the system... but birth control pills clear out more quickly vs other types of methods.

Birth control pills can take a few months to clear your system, and then you cycle will need to regulate. This all take time.

I went off birth control pills and after a few weeks I got pregnant.

Well because pills can stay in your system and there are some studies at chapel hill NC trying to find out if they can make you infertile...
That said I got pregnant on them but I had been on them 5 years and it took regular unprotected sex for 2 1/2 before I got pregnant. Dr said that my hormones had over run them and made them ineffective probably 8 to 15 months before I got pregnant ( it is posed to be a rare occurrance). She said my dose should have been upped when I turned 16 but my dr didn't so now I'm pregnant at 17. < I should have used protection but I'm not complaining>

Shauna, Birth control pills keep you from getting pregnant. If you want to get pregnant, you have to stop taking them. Have you stopped taking them? Maybe this is totally obvious, but I thought I better ask.

It will take time. It may take up to a year but after about a year you may want to seek a doctors advice. But the because pills are probably just now getting out of your system, they take at least a month to leave your system so keep trying!

I took 12 months to get pregnant for one baby and 10 months for the other, something like that. In the first case, I got impatient after about 4 months and the doctor said I had fibroids and removed them. I still didn't get pregnant until I started timing sex to within 2 days of ovulating. Then I got pregnant pretty quickly. The second time, the same thing happened. I didn't get pregnant until I started timing sex AND also my husband seemed not to be fertile until late in the summer. Both our babies were conceived on the same date in September, exactly four years apart. I was older, 34 and 38 for the two babies.

If you are serious, I would just pay attention to when you are ovulating and make sure to make love to your husband any time within the 48 hours BEFORE that day. Don't try to time it too close, because if you go 12 hours after you ovulate, that's too late (the egg dies). Better too early than too late. The sperm can live up to 4 or 5 days, but it's better if they are there only a day or two before you release your egg. When my husband and I made love 4 or 5 days before I ovulated, I would have a miscarriage (really early in the first month). This happened several times before I figured out it had to be within two days. Same thing happened both times. It's also better if you have sex normally most of the month, so he's making sperm. Then make him wait 5 to 7 days until the big day. He'll need all his sperm, so he needs to totally abstain for a few days before the day before you ovulate.

In most cases, it takes because pills 3 months to get out of your system. The longer you are on them, the longer it takes to leave your system. Since you have only been trying for three months, they could very well be the reason that you aren't getting pregnant, as the because may still be in your system. Also keep in mind that it takes most healthy couples up to 12 months trying to conceive naturally before succeeding.
