She needs to see her ob/gyn.

Whatever is going on with her needs to be addressed by a doctor. There could be HUNDREDS of reasons for not conceiving, and they could vary from something silly to something life-threatening.

Your advice to her is to see a doctor.

AND--please do NOT come back to me and tell me that she can not afford a doctor's visit. Anyone who can't afford to go to the doctor can not afford a baby, and shouldn't be trying to have one.

This could be the reason. She may not be ovulating. She should have a thorough exam by her doctor to rule out any other possible underlying conditions such as thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances or polycystic ovary syndrome.

Please understand that it is impossible for us to diagnose over the internet, any info you get will be purely guesses based on a little education or personal experience and they should by no means replace a doctor's advice.

That very well could be the problem... I was the same way... I wouldn't have periods unless I was on birth control pills, but then even that didn't work and I stopped having them at all.
My husband and I are trying to conceive and my OBGYN has me on Prometrium. I take this medication 10 days every month and it induces a period.

Your friend really needs to visit her OBGYN, especially if she has been trying for 4 years without being successful.
