New Pipe Fitting Sealant - BEFORE I bury the pipe!
 I put in a NEW hose bib on my backyard wall today stubbing off a water line (irrigation). I used PVC for the main run and from the ground up, I used metal (GALV) pipe - 1/2 in. On the MALE Galv pipe (goint into PVC Female 90), I wrapped the threads with YELLOW Gas tape (I was out of the plumbers tefflon white tape). Am I OK to use this GAS tape on the threads for this type of application (water) or should I remove and reset with the WHITE plumbers tape?

    Thanks for the help experts!!

The yellow is thicker, how many wraps did you put on? Did the pvc crack?

Doug's correct. The yellow tape is thicker so you just use less of it. Dog's concerned that youmay have overtightened the joint putting a strain on the PVC fitting. You might want to redo the joint with white tape just to be sure.
    Good luck, Tom
