    My dog will not eat
My German Shepherd is 8 months old and has been eating great up until about 2 weeks ago. He was eating 3 cups of kibble a day and we realized he should be getting more food. So we start feeding him 6 cups a day. For about the first week he ate everything possible. Now the last 2 weeks he bearly will eat anything. We tried putting turkey gravy into his food and also wet canned food in also. But he will not eat hardly anything. He is drinking a normal amount of water and he is having normal bowel movements. He likes to go for walks on a normal basis.( about 2-4 miles a day).Anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks.

If this dog has not had his shots I recommend that you have this dog checked for parvovirus. Because their appetite is the first thing to go with parvovirus, then vomiting and bloody(or not) diahhrea. Good luck to you.

Sounds like a clear case of over feeding to me. At 8 months he has most of his growth and may need less food. Three cups of a concentrated chow sounds closer to what he should need to me. Try cutting back to a compromise of 4 cups a day, and knock off the gravy and canned chow. It is quite normal for a young Shepherd to refuse to eat as much as the owner thinks it should. No problem even if the ribs show a little.
