Could be as simple as spending time with someone to get to know them better. Doesn't have to be alone, or with romantic intentions, such as a lunch date, or children's play date.

I'm curious if you have a question if some specific type of interaction would be considered a date?

I wondered if the first poster wanted to know if something such as going to a ball game, movie, or hike in the park could be considered a date... or if it had to involve holding hands or kissing... that type of stuff...

To me, I consider dating to be asking a woman to do an activity with me that he two of us can share together outside of a home. It could be just about anything. Now, my daughter doesn't really think that people really "date" anymore. She said that about five years ago when she was in her early twenties. So, now I'm not sure what dating would be considered for most people. I think that I consider dating for me, to be very much like what people in the old days used to call "courting." For me then, there is a very definite purpose to "dating." And, that would be for the possible selection of a life partner.

Are you asking what is "dating" or what is considered a "date"?

Dating is simply that... dating. You go out on dates with people. You are not "committed" in anyway to dating just one person. You meet someone you like, you take them on a date. Simple as that.

Things that are considered a date... well, that ranges all over the place. The simplest meeting in a parking lot down to a romantic, candle-lit dinner could be considered a date... just depends on how you approach it.
