    Suggestions on colors?
Well, I get to paint (start remodeling) my kitchen and very small bath. I want to keep in mind the resale value of our home when doing all of this.

The problem... I can't make a decision on what colors to go with, and if I should paint the old tile or try to knock it down. Keep in mind, we will be doing this by ourselves... hubby has not done any sheetrocking before and I have done it once.

Would anyone like to give their opinion on what to do... any suggestions will be considered. Also, if anyone has any remodeling advice for us... that would be appreciated.

The kitchen is to dark. I would consider a light color paint, perhaps a light beige, or soft yellow. Also I would put tile on the backsplash and maybe put some on the floor also. Your husband can do the project, Loews and Home Depot do have "How To" classes these days. Because this kitchen is dark it appears to be even smaller than it is. As far as the bathroom goes. If it were me I would see if there is anyway to paint the pink tile white, the room is small so I would tile the floor & change out the sink... Try a white pedistool style sink to make the room appear bigger. Today people are looking for a light, spa style feel. Make sure that you do not have that toilet cover on. Go to HGTV or other sites that are similar, to take a look at kitchen @ bathroom updates.

    Hi there RPG,

Can you let us know to what extent you plan on going to with your remodel? Will you be removing cabinets and fixtures? Will the tile be coming out of the bathroom?

It will make quite a diffference. You'll want to choose colors that compliment the fixtures, counter, tile and cabinets. If you are, then your available palette is of course much larger.

As for your bathroom, if you're not going to remove the tile(which is a big job, and is not for everyone), then you're going to have to go with neutral colors, since almost everything will clash with pink and baby blue.

As for the actual colors, I will leave that to others ;)

    Thanks,
    Json

Thanks Tiffany! Yes, they are both very small rooms for my nice size house (over 1800sqft). The small bath (forgot to note) has baby blue tile floor... paint or redo?

I have looked at (and watch the show religiously) HGTV. However, that's just more for me to be undecided on, LOL.

Has anyone painted tile before? Is it a hard process?

You can always get any needed information on that process from the hardware store.:)
