Hello all...

Here is a picture of my layout.


All fixtures are within 6 feet of the main stack. I know that the toilet doesn't need a vent, and since the sink will be right next to the stack, it doesn't require venting. Now do I need a shower drain vent? My basement rough in doesn't have a capped vent to tap into, so I was thinking it wasn't needed. If venting is needed, then does the picture drawing allow proper venting? Thanks for your help.

The pooper vent is where you MUST pick up your sink drain. Do not tie the vent back into the 3" pipe. the pooper vent was designed to vent the whole downstairs bath room. are you on a sump pump here? i am guessing not. are you having a kitchen sink or a bathroom sink? is it going to be in a cabinet, or a pedestal lavatory? is there any pipes that appear to have been preplanned for connecting the 2" vent ? The lateral for connecting the shower vent to the pooper vent must be at least 6" above the flood level rim of the sink. You may get away with only connecting the 2 vents and not going up.

I think I located the pre-planned for the vent, but when I loosen the rubber stop, a lot of water comes out. Could this just be condensation putting pressure on the pipe? This ones is confusing. The pvc pipe is sticking out of the basement ceiling with a rubber cap. What else could it be besides a vent pipe?

You are correct, it is the preplanned vent. Connect the pooper vent and shower vent to it. Do not cut the 3" pipe.
