I really think your vet would be the best one to explain. Although there is plenty of garbage on the net, I think most of the sites giving technical information would be safe to believe. Start at American Veterinary Medical Association.

I don't know either, but I'd be guessing that it's palate, not pallet, and probably means that the vet thinks that the puppy has some issues with his mouth and how its formed. However, this is the kind of thing where I look at my vet and say "In plain English, that means what?"

I don't think it is pallet or palate, but some part of the leg or foot I am not sure of the spelling. Maybe if you study the bill, you can pick up the correct spelling. Net searches are bad enough when you are using the right words. While I am well informed in many areas of dog care and training, I make little attempt at much of the medical stuff.

Narrow palate impact is the puppy's jaw is too narrow for all her teeth and the lower canines need to be removed as they are growing inside the upper teeth and will damage the upper palate. Removing them should allow the adult teeth to grow in correctly.

My Lab Zeke had to have orthodontal work because his lower canines were digging into his upper gum. Two weeks with a retainer fixed the problem. We were afraid our daughter's Shepherd would too, but by the time this picture was taken, there was only a small indentation in the upper gum.
 I was hoping some of the people with a better medical background than me would have given an answer. |
