    Toilet tank
    My toilet tank has a crack and has a minor leak, can this be sealed or do I need to replace it

    It would be best to replace the cracked tank. However, if you wish to attempt a repain then shut the water off and let the tank set until you're sure the crack's completely dry. Now caulk the crack with epoxy and let it set up and cure. Turn the water back on,fill the tank and check for leaks. Good luck, Tom

    Vitreous china rarely cracks without cracking all the way through. Like Tom says you can attempt a patch job following his directions but you are only postponing the inevitable. If that tank cracks further when you aren't home the ballcock will keep filling and filling and flood your home. A new tank can be as cheap as $40.
