    Shower/tub drain
Hello - I have a small 1 bedroom rental house that sits on a slab. In the bathroom there is a shower stall that is built on a 4 inch platform and a pvc 2 inch drain that runs from under the shower to a drain in the floor by the wall. I am thinking about taking the shower out and replacing it with a tub. There is a little over 5 foot to work with so a tub will fit in the space. I am concerned with how to hook up the drain since it is on a slab. Can I just connect to the floor drain like the shower is? I am assuming that there is a p trap under the cement but I don't know for sure. The shower seems to drain okay and I haven't had any complaints from my tenants. Thank you.

    Hi Bill,

Get out the sledge hammer and stone chisel because you're going to hafta build yourself a 14 X14" tubdap out. Since the tailpiece from the tub waste and overflow extends below the floor line to connect to the trap raiser you'll need to beat out a hole for it to fit in. We make the dap out big enough so if we have to "tweek" the trap over a tad to connect the raiser we'll have the room to do it in. The only other way would be to platform the tub. Good luck, tom
