    Unusual Expressions of Love
    Hi.

I have to do a school project on the meaning of love (my teachers a bit of a hippy)
And people don't like talking about it
    They find it very awkward
    Perhaps it's a British thing
But anyway if anyone out there has any ideas.. my topic is 'Unusal Expresions of Love: Discuss' Id be thrilled to hear your views.
Im not cheating :) Ive just got into it and I'm interested in what people have to say

    Cheers

You did not say what type of love. Between a man a woman, parents and children or people and objects, between people and animals or people and the earth.

Since your name is recycle. Recycling is a form of love. In my home we recycle for a few reasons 1. Because we love the earth and want to help counteract the problems caused by man 2. It teaches our kids not to be wasteful and to be respectful by reusing, therefore making their lives easier. 3 A lot of things that end up in landfills have a negative effect on the wildlife around it, for instance cans are quite dangerous, they may get stuck on animals heads or cause cuts that can lead to infection or death, six pack plastic rings can become intangled in their feet and cause injury and death. I have just shown you 3 examples of love through recycling.

    from Wikipedia, under "Love" --

"Expressions of love may include the love for a "soul" or mind, the love of laws and organizations, love for a body, love for nature, love of food, love of money, love for learning, love of power, love of fame, love for the respect of others, etcetera. Different people place varying degrees of importance on the kinds of love they receive."

Personally, I love numbers and how they fit together. I'm a library cataloguer so fitting together numbers so people can find books is a huge part of my work.

I'm from a German background and love predictibility and organization, like the tilework of the Alhambra. In contrast, though, I also love the randomness of bare branches against a winter sky. Both, I guess, are types of design.

Google "unusual expressions of love" (without quote marks) or similar combinations of keywords for more ideas.

I don't know how the rest of the world views love (ie, with family, friends, significant others, etc), but it seems in America, there is a misconception about what love really is. From my perspective, it seems that people are more concerned with a quick fling than a true lasting love. I am a fairly conservative average female in my mid 20's and am currently engaged. The man that I am with is of the same age. Looking at him, I NEVER would have thought that I would choose him to be my future spouse. Regardless, I know that even though he may not have a perfect physique, he is a wonderful person inside and that is why I love him. As far as love in sexual relationships, I think a lot of America is more concerned with being sexually attractive than being really decent and caring. Basically, many relationships seem to be built on sexual attraction than attraction of personalities, values, and beliefs. Many people only date someone who is of the same social class... you would never see a supermodel with a dorky mathematician. People also think that they instantly fall in love with someone, and yet even though they are supposedly in love, the relationship ends shortly after. I think people love the idea of being in love and those two are completely different. My thoughts are that you can love someone, but not be IN love with them. I think being IN love is much much deeper. To me, being IN love is totally denying yourself for someone and looking out for their every interest... it's being selfless! I think any kind of love, whether it be for a significant other, family, or friends should be selfless. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case. It seems that love today is more selfish than selfless. I guess the question is: do you want the deluded idea of love or a more realistic definition of it? Sorry if this seems like a skeptical view of love!! :) Hopefully this will be a decent example of one idea about love.
