The rules and procdures to file for bankruptcy today are very confusing, I called 10 attorneys over the last few weeks with some simple questions, and guess what got at least 3 answers, and even talked to several bankruptcy trustee's and got two different answers.

And you have to take a pre filing credit couselling course, and then a post filing counseling course prior to discharge, you also have to file a budget even on a chapter 7 to determine if you are even eligible to file depending on amount of debts, and total earnings and money in the bank.

Also each state has its own exemptions that you are allowed.

It is much much more than just filling some forms, The current package is about 40 or more pages that are filled.

And lets say you get that done, what do you do and answer the creditors attorney at the meeting of creditors when they try to get their debt disallowed. Also when a creditor files an objection, do you know the procefue to fie an answer to it.

I have done bankrutpcy paperwork for people in years past, and was even told by one trustee that mine was bettter than almost any attorney who was in their court. But guess what, with all of that I would not dare even try to do one under the new rules by myself.

The current filing fee for court is 299 dollars, and I have seen attorneys who will do the paperwork and represent you for as little as 1000 dollars and even take the 1000 in payments.
