    Publishing a story
I have a true story that happened to me that has a great moral and the end. I would like to send it in to the chicken soup for the soul people to see if they'd publish it.

Have any of you ever tried anything like that... what are the odds they'd even actually read it or even pubish it for that matter. Do you think it is even worth my time?

And... is there any other books similar to chicken soup that I should consider?

Make sure you have a copy and proof that it is yours with a date prior to sending it to a publishing company. My friend started Veggie Tales back in 1980 and the publishing company stole it off her and sold it. She has all the legal copywrites and so forth but can't find a lawyer that is willing to help her. So whatever you do be careful.

Here is the chicken soup publisher in case you don't have it.

How would I go about that? Wouldn't copywriting a story be expensive... I'd rather not go through all that for a story that's only about 3-4 pages. But please let me know.

That's so unfortunate about your friend. People can be so terrible, and heartless!

I think you can mail a copy to yourself and do not open it that way the post mark shows that you had it before the date that the publishers ever received it.

Try Reader's Digest. They frequently publish real-life stories if they have moral and or amazing happenings in them. E-mail the editors with a summary of your story and see what happens.

Depending on the story, some television talk shows (Ellen, Oprah) like to highlight special interest stories.
