    understanding an unfit parent
Well now were do I begin... I'm a paralegal investigator working on a pretty big custody case in Ohio that been going on for over a year and a half. And as luck would have it this was my first case as a paralegal and as an investigator. So my question is how do you prove someone as an unfit parent and what is the criteria for the courts to describe someone as unfit? I started this case after a father filed a writ of habeaous corpus stating that the grandparents wouldn't give the child back to the father. This man doesn't have a job and hasn't had one in acouple years and has no visible means for retirement and was issued a large sum of money in insurance proceeds that we believe that he was intitled to persuant to Ohio state insurance statue. I feel like if we don't get custody changed over that this bright little girl with a beautiful future ahead of her will become a negative statistic.

If you are a paralegal and working on a case in Ohio - you should have accees to the legal libraries in your state about proving an unfit parent. Your state law determines when a natural parent becomes "unfit" and that may vary between states. Contact the Ohio State Bar Association -

You might want to read through this article from the Ohio State Bar Association:
    http://downloads.ohiobar.org/conres/...nd_You_010.pdf

Read through family rights, minors and dependent children, neglected and dependent children. Hopefully this will help you.

But use your resources right there in front of you, since you are a paralegal investigator. Those would be most pertinent to Ohio and your case needs.
