You know one of my favorite DJ's is from Jacksonville. She moved to western NY about 3 years ago... but she talks about "J-ville" all the time.

    Buh bye RPG

Wow, Tus! That's quite a jump: J-ville to western NY!
I've been to the Finger Lakes region. Very pretty in the summer but I don't care for the way they do winter there! Hehe :D
And wasn't Oswego, NY recently in the "winter" news??

Oswego was. They actually have an underground tunnel so that students don't have to walk outside to classes in the winter. Scary huh?

I actually have a summer place on one of the finger lakes. It is such a beautiful area. Especially if you like wine. Did you get to any of the wineries?

Scary if you aren't used to it.
Remember, I grew up in Alaska!
The snow was always it seems, taller than I was. hehe
I visited family on Cayuga Lake a couple years ago. Beautiful August weather!
I didn't get to any of the wineries! Grr! My bad! I normally would have, but didn't have enough time. Too many things happening.

    That sounds nice!
How about recommending an NY red wine... I'll start my tour with a trip to the ABC Fine Wine and Spirits store around the corner.

Truthfully NY Reds are up and coming. I am not sure if you could find them down there. But McGregors Rob Roy is a good one. Ventosa Vino Rosso or Saggio and Ravines Pinot Nior or Meritage are great. Heron Hill's Eclipse Red is also very good. They also have an Eclipse White that is wonderful.

Stay away from Bully Hill - that is beginner wine drinkers wine.

For Whites- Rieslings are great in this area. Ravines, Heron Hill, Dr. Franks those are all really good.

I lived in Auburn, Marcellus, and Weedsport, 1968-1970--A couple of lifetimes ago. That was before there was much of a wine industry there. I worked at GE plants in Auburn and Syracuse.

I like winter, and missed it when I lived in California, but upstate NY had too much of it, for my taste. I like to see the ground at least occasionally between October and April.
