    Cooker point extension
Hello all, first time here so be gentle please.

If, say, we had a cooker plate and switch in the wrong place and wanted to move them about 1 metre.

Can we extend the cabling, or do we need to go back to the consumer unit with one continuous run?
The former would be the easiest by far, obviously.

Well I'll be gentle but I think tough love is best

I think I would find a Power Strip to do the job

And run the cord neatly -- and secure it in place

Make sure it is rated to carry the current --amps

That your cooker plate will draw

Most appliances have current ratings on them

You should be able to simply extend the cable with the same size core/cable and marret the connections with wirenuts in a junction box of sufficient size and cover plate. The box can be hidden in the cabinets, just do not bury behind any permanent finishes.

Keep in mind that you must notify the local authority's Building Control Department of any alterations on kitchen wiring.
