Sewage smell coming from powder room
We just had hand scraped hard wood floors installed in our kitchen and powder room and now notice an odor coming from the powder room. The flooring company pulled the toilet and replaced the ring. They told my husband that he may have to tighten the bolts over time due to a slight rocking. He has done this, but doesn't want to crack the toilet. The rocking has stopped. Could it be that since the floor is made with grooves it doesn't seal properly? Or something else? Thanks!

I am guessing that the wax ring that was to seal the toilet was not thick enough, or that the rocking of the toilet created a gap in the seal. You may need to shim the toilet to make it level and stable after you replace the wax ring.
