I can see this topic has been dead for a while but I remember more about this song. It was played widely in the UK in 1980 around the time that 'Suicide is Dangerous' was number 1 - I know because I was going out with someone at the time.
 The song started:

She took a job as a hat check girl at Reno's
To try her luck at the club where the stars hang out

Later on the tempo changed and it included:

Then one day, she had a lucky break
Played a leading lady on a Broadway show...

 The last verse started:

So give a hand to the hat check girl at Reno's

It finished: I'm in love, yes I'm in love, with the crazy little hat check girl at Reno's - I only wish she knew.

I've searched the charts of that time and bizarrely can find nothing - it's as if the song never existed and it was actually quite nice. The singer sounded a bit like Billy Joel and I can still 'hear' the song now almost 28 years later!

Hi Yes this song was written and sung by (Ed) Eddie Howell, I should know, he is my father. The song was written about my mum, well my dad meeting my mum in a nightclub in birmingham (uk) where she was hat check girl in the late sixties.
If you would like I could forward a message to my dad and pass a message.

 Hi Tom,

Thanks for that information it was very interesting and gives me just a little bit more history of the song. I was working in a record shop in Central London when the single came out. We used to play it virtually every lunchtime when we were packed and sold loads. Unfortunately we weren't a chart shop so our loads didn't count for much chart-wise.
Regards to you and your Dad hope he is keeping well.

Terry

Could someone please give me the lyrics to an old love song, "Where Walks My True Love?" I think the first couple of lines are "Where walks my true love? There you will find me. Though we be dreams apart, or just a smile away." Could you also refer me to a website where I can be sure to listen...

Please help me... I'm looking for an old 80's song I have but don't know the title of it... It sounds clubish in nature and it goes like this:

“You can feel two hearts in me
You can hear the voices in me
I am the thief of lusted source

Gets me higher when I'm blue
Takes my hand and runs me...

I have heard this song be referred to as The Stripper Song, but had no luck with that title. Here are some of the lyrics:

I love the people that u know,
I love the places that we go.
I love the way u still say please, while looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease.
