Water runs out after 10 minutes takes hour to come back on
Okay a couple of months ago the water heater we had started leaking so my landlord replaced it. Ever since when you take a shower or use any water really you better make it fast because it runs out after 10-15 minutes I mean completely out no water at all. Then it takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to come back on. This happens in the whole house no water from any where kitchen, shower, sink, or toilet? This happens every time the water is used even if its been 10+ hours since any water was used. for my kids to take a bath I have to fill the tub up with straight hot water until it cuts off then wait until it comes back on to finish filling the tub to a level that is good for them. This is driving me insane! we have well water I don't know if that matters or not? What could be the problem? Someone please help!!

We have well water in my house and we can run the hot water for like an hour if we want, before it runs out, and about an hour or 2 later we have full hot water in the water heater again. That heater has some issue, 10-15 minutes of hot water is not normal. I don't know how you would repair it, but I suggest you talk to your landlord 'cause that's not really acceptable.

It sounds like the water table in your well has been pulled down when you filled the tub and you must now wait for the water table to replenish itself and bring the water table up to where the pump can draw on it. To check this when they pressure drops in they house go out and open up the nearest hose bib. If you have good pressure the problem's in the house piping but if you turn it von and no water comes out then it's the well itself that's the problem. Good luck and let me know what you find out. Regards, Tom

Sunnyan, I'm sure it's baffling that this problem seemed to start with the new water heater. It certainly seems to be against all odds that you would start having well problems at the very time when the water heater was replaced, but it is easy enough to check your well, as Speedball advised. In fact, if you don't want to wait for another pressure drop, just turn on the hose bib and let it run for whatever period it takes to lose pressure. If you have the same problem at the hose bib as in the house, then at least you will know. I'd love to hear what you find out on this one.

Maybe sabotage when someone wouldn't pay for plumbing services (somebody I don't know who) would drop a marble or something into the water line and it would stop the waterflow at the first fixture

This is an old trick done by union tradesmen on an open shop project, I have not heard of it being done in many years.
