My ex was arrested for domestic assault against me and for then going after my son, thus him being my ex. He was released ROR :eek: , failed to appear, was picked up again, paid bail and did not appear again. This was over 10 years ago. I recently ran into his cousin. She despises him pretty much as deeply as I do and I believe her when she says she hasn't seen him and that no one has told her where he's living.

His mother told her mother that he has met a woman from France, I think. Apparently, she has traveled here many times and now he is planning on going there and they're going to get married. I'm not sure where they're planning on marrying, I only know that he is definitely intending to get a passport and visit her.

My question is this: When he applies for his passport, is it likely the bench warrant :confused: I assume was issued when he skipped bail will somehow cause him to be flagged and perhaps apprehended? I'm assuming that he'll have to provide truthful information about his location and such when he applies. When they process the passport, will the arrest and subsequent warrant I'm guessing exists in Kane County, Illinois appear?

It may seem petty to still be hoping he'll be picked up this long after, but this man broke 17 bones in my body and then turned on my son before the police showed up to stop him. It was the first, and last time he ever hit either of us, but I later learned I was not the first, or I believe last, woman he attacked in this manner. I'd really like to see this guy finally pay for his behaviors, but he's apparently done a good job staying off the grid all this time. This is the first hope I've had that he could potentially be located and caught.

Does anyone know what the chances are of that happening?

It would certainly be a nice Christmas present for me and the others he's hurt.

Well, if they DON'T catch him when he applies for a passport, or travels through an airport, then we've been wasting billions and billions on our security. Look. I don't like cops. But, I can't believe they're SOOOOOO bad that this guy is going to slip through.

But, they're pretty bad, and he may skate again.

Thanks for the reply. I had tried reading up on what happens when you apply for a passport on the government's site here: Passport Information for Criminal Law Enforcement Officers but it seems to indicate that the only way anything is going to flag is if Kane County specifically put his name on some list. I have no idea if they did or not, and my dealings with Kane County have been less than enlightening. No one seems to care about a case over 10 years old. :(

His mother clearly knows where he is. She hasn't moved in all this time according to the cousin, so why Kane County has been unable to find him is just beyond comprehension. He's a momma's boy. I KNOW he has visited her at home, there's no way he hasn't, and she's just a few blocks from the Sheriff.

I guess I'll just hope for the best.

Yeah, the list is the NCIC computer database at the FBI in Washington, D.C. That's where ALL warrants are entered.

If county's had to jump through hoops, nobody would ever get arrested on old warrants, and we know that they do.
