Hi,
I'm hoping to get some good answers.
My son had a bunch of his teeth capped this year in February, when he was a little over 2 1/2 years old. My son was put under and his teeth were capped with steel caps. Now less than a year later, one of his front teeth appears to be lose, as if it would be wanting to fall out. My son remarked that it hurt when he eats, though it can't be too bad cause he still eats with it, and drinking anything doesn't hurt it. So I'd venture to say discomfort while eating is a more appropriate word. He is now just barely 3 1/2 years old.
I have since the surgery noticed that his teeth are growing further apart and the spaces between the teeth have considerably widened.

Is there a way to determine if the cap is lose or if the tooth is lose?

If the cap is lose, or the tooth really for that matter I would suspect that this tooth may not last to begin with until he's 5 years old before his regulars would come in?
What would be a good recommendation, to try and salvage this troublesome tooth or just have it pulled?
Is it common to have a full cap loosen up in less than a year on a toddler?

I am NOT going to want him put under again just to fix this problem i.e. ONE tooth, for several reasons,
a) no money to afford that,
b) insurance is maxed for the year obviously
c) it's enough stress and trauma for him and myself. :(

For a background to this here's more info:
He had a spot between his two front teeth that looked grayish, and a dark brown spot on another tooth. The doctors ruled bottle rot though I exclusively breast fed him, and none of my other kids (2 older sisters) had any problems like he did, and certainly not at that age.
During pregnancy I was once put on clindamycin, and at delivery I was put on antibiotics once more, because of a strep be infection, even though I rejected it because I knew the risk would be small if my son's birth would transpire quickly. And I did indeed get him out from the time my water broke with the force of my final delivery contractions to 10 minutes later when he was completely out. They basically forced this medicine on me.
I am seriously wondering if his teeth were affected somehow by either this medicine or the advair I was using at the time.

Your best bet is to at last go to the dentist.catch it noww get the dentists opinion,and at least consider what he has to say- you owe it to your son and you don't want it to be worse later in life.waiting could make it worse.I bet that the Dr. will just pull it anyway.
