My 6 year old son has eczma in all creases on his body, on top of that he has boils that keep coming back all over his body. We have tried everything to keep this from coming back, but nothing is working. Bactroban does not, they told us to bathe him in clorox, that does not work. Alledal has not work. We are scared that this problem will never be solved and we are looking for suggestions. We have took him to Dermatologists to the hospital, and they keep trying different ointments and antibiotics, and the exzema goes away for awhile, plus the boils. But it keeps coming back, and the boils are getting worse. Starting to cover him all over from head to toe in spots. If any suggestions please let us know. Thank You.

Have the boils been cultured for staph infections?

Yes 2 or 3 times, My ex-wife has him at the Hospital now. They say that it may be life threatening. She just called me and said they going to cut one open and keep him over night. If they don't get better by in the morning they will have to do surgery on the other boils he has on his body.

I am sorry to hear this. It is terrible when our children are sick.

You say that the boils have been cultured, but you don't say if it is staph. Is it? I can help you more if I know the answer to this question.

It's not staph. Do u think it may have something to do with his eating problems? He hardly eats. When we try to make him eat different things, he gags. Maybe his imune system low? He has the eczma real bad like in the creases on his arms and legs too.

It may have to do with his immune system, and his diet may play a part, but most likely a small part. Please don't make him eat different things, just give him the healthy foods that he likes, he may eventually come around, but by making him eat things that are not appealing to him you are strengthening his adverse feelings towards food, thus causing more problems.

When he gets these boils is he put on antibiotics?

Well we try to get him to eat vegetables, he won't try nothing like that. But I understand what you mean, we have slacked off on try to get him to try different things. But yes, they have put him on steroids and antibiotics plus many different creams. They have also had us give him a bath in bleach to dry them out.

This all sounds strange to me. Bleach? Really? I have never heard of a doctor suggesting bleach. It may be possible, but I have never heard of it myself.

When you give him the antibiotics, do you give it to him until the boils are gone or do you give it to him until the antibiotic is gone?

Interesting. I would ask the doctors if the "wound" is cultured and what the culture results come back as.

The reason I say this is that many children are carriers of staph, and I don't necessarily mean MRSA, but since he has what is known as impaired tissue integrity (eczema) it makes the areas more prone to the particular bacterial infection. Also, the procedures you described above are typically used for staph infections.

You also mention that it may be life threatening, this is common for a staph infection called MRSA.
