Buy pizza rolls! You can get a huge bag at any grocery store almost. You can also get crackers and cheese, or maybe even chicken wings, they're a little more expensive though.

Do you feel comfortable in preparing these types of food yourself? If you do prepare them yourself, it will save you a lot of money.

You could go to the store and get premade trays... I always do a fruit tray and a meat tray... looking at about $30 for both (small - medium tray). And there are always leftovers from it.

Make brushetta - buy french bread loaves, and if you go to Harris Teeter you can buy pre-made topping. Pick up some real parm cheese to shave on the top.
Cut the bread into bite-sized slices on an angle (makes them easier to eat), brush with a bit of olive oil, and pop into a warm oven to get slightly toasted. Then top with the bruschetta topping and shaved parm. You can pop them back in the oven if you like your bruschetta warm (I do), but it's not necessary.
For 30 people you could do this for WELL under $75. If you want to get fancy and cook yourself, dice whatever tomatoes you like, add some garlic, basil and olive oil and let macerate for a little bit. If you want to get fancy without that much effort, buy small tomatoes (grape or cherry) and slice them; put the slices on the bread and top with chopped or torn basil and parm. You could also do tomato slices on bread with mozzarella, goat cheese, whatever you like. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.

Chicken wings, are probably the cheapest if your order trays, but the easiest and cheapest to make are, mini hot dogs, wrapped in biscuits are great and quick to make, cracker and cheese summer sausage tray and add a fruit tray. Or a variety of chips and dips, quick and easy. Or a tray of Shrimp and sauce, mini tostados, mini tacos, Nacho's, another easy one, (Gotta go, now I'm hungry!)

If you don't mind making them yourself you could make
POTATO SKINS WITH CHEESE AND BACON
8 baking potatoes
2 lbs. bacon
1 lb. Cheddar cheese (shredded)
Bake potatoes until done. Cut in half and clean out majority of potato leaving skin and about 1/8 inch of potato. Fry bacon until crisp then crumble; set aside. Fry potato skins in bacon grease until crisp (turn them one to two times). Drain skins on paper towels. Fill skins with cheese. Top with bacon. These toppings can be varied - olives, tomatoes, salsa, chicken, ground beef, various cheeses. Broil until cheese is melted. Top with sour cream and chives.
and CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM CREPES
CREPES:
3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
Lightly grease 7" or 8" skillet. Heat (over medium heat) until butter bubbles. Beat all ingredients together until smooth. Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons batter into pan for each crêpe. Cook both sides until golden brown, rotate pan so batter covers pan. Crêpes can be stacked between wax paper. Cover to keep moist.
FILLING:
1 c. milk
1 c. chicken broth
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. butter
2 c. cut up cooked chicken
1 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms
Mix milk, chicken broth, flour, salt, pepper and butter in 2 quart saucepan. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil and stir one minute. Stir in chicken and mushrooms which have been drained and chopped. Heat through. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spread about 1/4 cup chicken mixture down center of each crepe; roll up. Place seam side down in ungreased oblong pan, 13"x9"x2". Combine one can of cream of celery soup with remaining chicken mixture and pour over crêpes. Bake until hot, 15 to 20 minutes.
Crêpes can be made ahead and kept in refrigerator up to 2 days. Wrap stacked, cooled, crêpes in aluminum foil. To reheat: Place wrapped stacks in 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes.

3 packages of little smokies, cocktail weiners or cut up hot dogs in bite size pieces count on about 6 pieces per person.
16 oz of barbecue sauce, 1 cup of ketchup your preference
1 1/2 cup of grape jelly
1/2 cup of brown sugar, cook in a pot until heated thoroughly, make sure jelly is mixed into the sauce and there are no lumps... add the smokies last.
Serve with tooth picks or pretzels.
Not sure what these little things are called but their pretty good.
