    Honda Del Sol 93
My mileage is 90,000. My muffler is loud and the dealer suggested to have it replaced for $200. My maintenance on this car has been real minimal - what can I expect the lifespan of this car to be? I'm trying to see if it is worth it for the muffler.

    Thanks

    Hello Theresa

You can expect to get many more years and mileage with your Honda as these vehicles with routine maintence are one of the most reliable autos on the road today. Having your muffler replaced by your Honda dealer will be much more costly than replacing it with an aftermarket muffler. I would check with your local auto supply store for pricing as this may be a cheaper route to take. You may also want to check out any Muffler shops in your area as you may be surprised at the deals that are out there.

Yes the car will be great for the next 100,000 miles, do you want to sell it? Joking

Hondas are typically good for 150,000 to 200,000 miles. I would recommend the Honda muffler over a cookie cutter system from an exhaust shop. The tuning of the Honda muffler has a large impact on the engine's performance and sound (which may also affect your fuel economy). Also, the replacement muffler from Honda has a lifetime warranty.
