    WWII German Helmet
I have this WWII German Helmet. My grandfather served in the war as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. I don't have many details about the helmet. Grandpa didn't like to recollect some memories and events because it hurt. This helmet was not something he ever discussed, or at least, not to me, he didn't. He passed away in 2006 and I now reside in his house. I was cleaning out a closet and found the helmet. I remember when I was a child, I took the helmet to school as a display for a project I was working on.. and it immediately brought back memories when I found it. I would like to know if anyone would happen to know how much it may be worth. I am not interested in getting rid of it, obviously because it is very sentimental.

It is a German combat helmet... dark or navy blue... with the double decal SS (lightning strikes) on the right side above the ear... chin strap is attached, however, it is torn through the middle of the strap... the liner is also included... the helmet has some discolorations, maybe rust, old age, or from combat...

I would include some pictures I took of the helmet, but I don't know how to.. if someone would tell me, I'll do that so you could have a visual description. I'd appreciate any information anyone could give me about the helmet or the value of it.
    Thanks in advance!

I saw one where the price was about $75.00. Of course, how much it is worth really depends on what someone is willing to pay for it. Also, I'm sure that the condition of the helmet would also be a factor in it's value. I remember when I was a child, that a neighbor had a similar kind of helmet. I think that it was an officer's helmet because it had one of those spikes in the top of it, if I remember correctly. It also had a bullet hole in it. I know that this might sound a little morbid to some, but the fact that it had a bullet hole in it might make it more valuable to some people.

I clicked on your link and it displayed a book for sale on eBay about WWII German helmets, and it was $74.99. I am trying to research some websites that may give me an idea of the value. I have found a website that will appraise your item. There were similar helmets on the website selling in a range of $500-5000.00. I am going to send some pictures to the dealer and try to get some information. Thanks for offering your information.

Hello, if you still have this helmet, I would be interested in buying. We could work out a deal through eBay. Based off your description, this thing could be worth up to $400! It depends on the condition though. So please reply and we can work something out.
